The African Development Bank (AfDB) on Friday concluded its annual meeting in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, with a call to accelerate regional integration in Africa to achieve economic prosperity in the region.

“We have had an excellent exchange of views with all shareholders,” African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina said Friday at the final press conference of the meeting, which was attended by some 2,000 delegates to discuss ways to accelerate regional integration after the ratification of the African Free Trade Area Agreement earlier this year. In the bank and partners. They were very impressed by the work done by the bank, especially with regard to accelerating regional integration. ”

“The bank continues to help African countries emerging from conflict, while its investments have played a strategic role in helping countries that find themselves in a triangle of disasters – unemployment, poverty and environmental degradation,” Adesina added.

He stressed the need to remove all barriers between the countries of the continent, whether customs barriers or non-tariff barriers and to allow free movement of people among the countries of the continent as a basis for accelerating the pace of regional integration.
