Two hijackers in Nigeria killed a British woman and a Nigerian man, kidnapped three others in the northern city of Kaduna, local police and the British embassy said on Sunday.
Kidnappings are common in Nigeria where abductors target both citizens and foreigners for ransom.
Police said the woman traveled from Lagos as a tourist and attended a party before the incident.
The British embassy said the woman identified as Faye Mooney, adding that she was aware of the incident late on Friday but said she would not speculate about the motive or nature of the attack.
Police said no one had yet claimed responsibility for the attack and the kidnappers had not yet been identified.
