Around 130 people have died as a result of flooding in Mozambique and Malawi.

About 70 people were killed by floods in the central and northern regions, the BBC said Wednesday, adding that some 140,000 people were affected by the floods, which also destroyed thousands of homes.

Floods affected neighboring Malawi, where about 60 people were killed. Authorities in Malawi ordered people living in flood-prone areas to move from their homes to temporary accommodation in highlands.
