Pictures: Intense security deployed outside Nigerian parliament after police shooting

The area surrounding the Nigerian parliament witnessed a state of security alert on Tuesday, it was closed after shooting.

A spokesman for the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, a Shiite group, told Reuters that the Nigeria police shot at the movement’s protesters in front of the National Assembly (parliament) in Abuja on Tuesday, but the protesters did not respond to them.

The parliament building was closed this afternoon after the shooting. Police have so far not responded to requests for comment.
