Four were shot dead and two others injured in a shooting incident in Los Angeles neighborhood Thursday.

The incident sparked hunting for 12 hours before police arrested the gunman.

Los Angeles police spokesman identified the suspect as Gerry Dean Zaragoza, 26, and said he was arrested  with charges in the murder case of his father and brother and injuring his mother.

The incident happened at the apartment shared by the suspect and his parents at 2:00 am local time Thursday at Canoga Park in Los Angeles, police officials said.

Police said the suspect also allegedly shot dead a woman known at the North Hollywood gas station about 45 minutes later but did not state their relationship.

Some media referred  as his former girlfriend, while others reported the victim was the only contact of the suspect.

At the same time, he was charged with injuring the petrol station clerk.

The victim was shot five times and was in critical condition, Los Angeles Times and other local  media reported.

At about 1:00 pm, the suspect Zaragoza allegedly shot dead a man on a bus in the Van Nuys neighborhood.

A media report said the suspect did not know the man in the bus and the fire was randomly released.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Zaragoza was arrested in Canoga Park after being dropped by civilian police personnel around 2.30pm.

Police said that the suspect Zaragoza used handgun in the multiple killings.

There is no obvious motive for any of the killings, said Capt. William Hayes of the Robbery-Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department.
