5.6-magnitude earthquake hits southern Guatemala

An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale jolted southern Guatemala on Saturday, the US Geological Survey said.

The epicenter of the quake was 8.2 kilometers northwest of the city of Casillas and about 50 kilometers southwest of the capital, Guatemala City, the US agency said.

The quake struck at a depth of 197 kilometers and there were no reports of damage or injuries.
