US President Donald Trump arrived in Afghanistan on Thursday for a surprise visit to the US troops to celebrate Thanksgiving Day, his first visit in war torn country since he took office.

The US presidential plane landed at Bagram Air Base after an overnight flight from Washington. Donald Trump was accompanied by White House national security adviser Robert O’Brien, a small group of advisers, presidential guard officers and a group of reporters representing media organizations.

Trump met with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and addressed the US troops. Trump said the Afghan Taliban wanted a deal and believed they need a ceasefire. The US president said that he spend good time with the troops to celebrate Thanksgiving Day.
