Disney’s fairy tale ‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’ overcame ‘Joker’ in last week’s evil fight, raising US $19.4 million in North American cinemas, industry observers Exhibitor Relations said on Monday.

The movie, a sequel to the 2014 movie starring Angelina Julie as the infamous witch in the ‘Sleeping Beauty’ story.

This time, actress Michelle Pfeiffer also joined the cast as Queen Ingrith.

For the second consecutive week, Warner Bros. ‘Joker’, starring Joaquin Phoenix, raised US $19.2 million from Friday to Sunday to be in second place with little difference.

The film has raised US $850 million worldwide, to become the most successful R-rated movie in history, according to Variety magazine.

Third place was ‘The Addams Family’ earning US $12 million.

Computer animated films tell the Addams family and their scary family members such as Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Snoop Dogg and Bette Midler.
