Honduras president Juan Orlando Hernandez will travel to Jerusalem capital of Israel tomorrow to open the country’s diplomatic office in Jerusalem by recognizing the holy city as the capital of Israel.
The diplomatic office in the city in question is a branch of the Honduras embassy in Tel Aviv.
“For me, it is Jerusalem’s recognition as the capital of Israel,” Hernandez said Wednesday.
According to a foreign ministry statement, Israel proposes Honduras to relocate its embassy in Jerusalem and it is considering the proposal based on national and international contexts.
US President Donald Trump worsened relations between Washington and the Palestinian authorities last year by moving his embassy to Jerusalem.
Guatemala and Paraguay are taking similar steps, while Brazil is studying the move. Paraguay, however, withdrew its decision only four months later.
