New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said security officials in the city raised the alert for possible Iranian retaliation against a US air strike in Baghdad on Friday, which killed Qassem Soleimani, Tehran’s most prominent military chief.

The city is constantly counting on possible terrorist attacks but the mayor has said that the risk has increased dramatically in light of the resources that a country like Iran has compared to organizations like al-Qaeda or ISIS.
