A recent survey by the Pew Research Center revealed that only quarter of Americans know exactly that Facebook owns WhatsApp and Instagram, survey also found weakness in some aspects of technology-related culture in a large segment of the Americans.

The survey consisted of 10 questions designed to measure Americans’ knowledge of a range of technical topics such as cybersecurity and the business side of the largest social media networks.

One of the most shocking surprises in the survey is that only 29% of respondents know that Facebook has WhatsApp and Instagram, and almost all Americans don’t know Twitter founder and CEO Jack Dorsey, only 15% answered correctly.

The average number of correct responses to the survey was 4 for each American, while only 2% of respondents answered correctly all the questions.

Emphasis was placed on the ages and grades of respondents as a criterion for measuring results and ranking of respondents, The Business Insider reported.

Respondents noted that those with advanced degrees less than 50 years old had more than one correct answer record.

The survey was conducted in June on 4,272 adults living in the United States.
