Trump asks to meet Iranian leaders to discuss alternative nuclear deal

Trump’s statement follows an executive decree imposing new sanctions on Iran.

The new US sanctions aim to deprive Iran of its revenues from mineral exports.

The news channel Sky News quoted Trump as threatening Iran with further measures if its behavior did not change radically.

Trump said the new sanctions were a warning message to other countries to allow Iranian metal exports to reach their ports.

US envoy to Iran Brian Hawk has announced that his country wants to negotiate a new agreement with Iran, following the cancellation of US President Donald Trump of the previous nuclear agreement.

Hawke said the agreement with Iran would be presented to Congress for ratification as a treaty.
