US President Donald Trump on Sunday called on Democratic female members of the House of Representatives of foreign origin to “come back from where they came from”, sparking controversy, especially Democratic officials who accused him of racism.

This is not the first time that Trump has attacked migrants or poor countries. Last year he likened African countries to “dirty bastards,” as well as to the “invasion” of illegal immigrants.

“They were originally from countries with catastrophic governments, absolutely the worst, the most corrupt and the most inefficient in the world,” Trump said in a tweet at his Twitter account to Progressive Democratic Congress members. He did not mention any of them in his own name.

“They tell the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful nation on earth, how we should manage our government,” he said. “Why do not they reform and help repair the failed places they came from where the crime is rampant?”
