US President Donald Trump continues to try to discredit the whistleblower in the Ukraine affair. On Twitter, he described the whistleblower’s complaint as a “fake”. “The whistleblower knew almost nothing”, Trump wrote Monday. The description of the telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which is at the center of the scandal, is based on second-hand information and is a “fraud”.

An anonymous secret service employee lodged a complaint with an internal control authority in August, triggering Trump’s impeachment trial. The Democrats in the House of Representatives have initiated investigations.

Trump accuses the whistleblower, “taking advantage of the power of his office” for another country to interfere in his favor in the American election 2020. He relies on information from several government employees. Trump rejects the allegations.

A call log with Zelensky shows that Trump encouraged his Ukrainian counterparts to investigate, which could harm his rival Joe Biden. Biden’s son Hunter’s past business in Ukraine and Biden’s alleged efforts to protect him from the Ukrainian judiciary.

The identity of the whistleblower is unknown. The CBS television channel published a letter from the secret service agent’s attorneys expressing concern for the safety of their client.

House Intelligence Committee expects to hear the whistleblower as a witness soon. First, however, precautions needed to be taken to protect the identity of the person, said committee chairman Adam Schiff ABC news on Sunday.

US President accused Schiff of misrepresenting the phone call with Zelensky. “Arrest for treason”? He tweeted.
