US astronaut Sandra Hall Magnus has called for broad international cooperation in space science and encouraging women to be more involved in the field.
The symposium was held Thursday at the United Nations headquarters in the Austrian capital on the sidelines of the 62nd session of the International Committee on the ‘Peaceful Use of Space’, which will conclude Friday with wide international participation.
Magnus emphasized the achievement of gender equality and the increase in international conferences and actions that promote space projects and their role in achieving sustainable development in accordance with the goals set by the United Nations.
Magnus is an engineer at the US space agency NASA and spent several months in space in 2008 to conduct many new research on space science.
