US authorities reportedly detained 680 illegal immigrants in a raid on a food processing plant in the southeastern part of the country, following President Donald Trump’s announcement to curb the entry of foreign immigrants.
According to authorities, most of those detained immigrants by members of the Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) are of Hispanic origin.
“During our investigation after receiving a criminal warrant, we managed to find 680 immigrants”, officials said.
“They (immigrants) must obey the laws and regulations. They need to enter the country, follow the right channels or not come to this country, “Mississippi prosecutor Mike Hurst said at a press conference.
He said action was also taken against the employer.
