US billionaire Warren Buffett has donated $ 3.6 billion, of his Berkshire Hathaway group to five charitable organizations, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in the biggest contribution to Buffett’s plan to give up his wealth.
Berkshire Hathaway said Buffett’s 14th annual donation includes about 16.81 million shares. The latest donation increases Buffett’s total contribution to charitable organizations to more than $ 34.5 billion since 2006, when the 88-year-old man pledged to donate his shares in Berkshire Hathaway.
The donations go to Gates, Susan Thompson Buffett, the name of his late wife, and other organizations run by his sons Howard, Peter, Susan Howard G. Buffett, Sherwood and Novo. Buffett’s last annual contribution was $ 3.4 billion.
Since the 1960s, Warren Buffett has transformed his Berkshire company into a large group of about $ 522 billion, with companies such as BNSF Railways and JACCO Car Insurance and shares in other companies, including Apple and Wales Fargo & Co.
