US holds North Korean coal ship for violating sanctions

The US Justice Department on Thursday announced the detention of large North Korean cargo ship that officials said violated the sanctions against Pyongyang by illegally shipping coal.

The ship, previously seized by foreign naval authorities in April 2018, is currently in the possession of the United States and is approaching its territorial waters, a Justice Department official said.
