The United States imposed a new round of sanctions on Moscow on Saturday over the case of former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal in 2018 in Britain.

Washington said it opposed the extension of any loans or financial or technical assistance to Russia by international financial institutions and imposed restrictions on US banks from financing Russian debt, a US State Department spokesman said in a statement.

The US will also limit exports of goods and technology to Russia, he added.

Sergei Skripal, a former Russian military officer and double agent for the UK’s intelligence services, and his daughter Yulia Skripal were poisoned in Salisbury, England.
