A federal judge in Washington on Monday dismissed US President Donald Trump’s lawsuit to block the House of Representatives Tax and Budget Committee from gaining access to Trump’s tax returns through a new law in New York state.
Judge Carl Nicholas of the US District Court for the District of Columbia ruled that his court was not the appropriate to rule on US officials in New York whom Trump had filed the suit against, leaving Trump an option to file the same lawsuit in New York.
Nicholas also ruled that Trump did not provide enough evidence of a possible conspiracy between the Tax Budget and Budget Committee and New York State Attorney Leticia James, which would have strengthened his case to hear the case in Washington. On the contrary, Trump did not claim a conspiracy. In his complaint, the lawsuit did not contain the word conspiracy”.
