According to Georgia’s state health department, measles was confirmed on Saturday for a resident in southeastern Georgia, and he has never been vaccinated.
The latest measles outbreak began in New York in October 2018 and was generally linked to the refusal of parents to vaccinate their children, threatening to end the US status as a disease-free country.
As of October 3, the country has reported 1,250 measles cases since the beginning of the year in 31 states.
