US Treasury Secretary urges Congress to raise public debt ceiling

US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin urged Congress on Friday to raise the country’s public debt ceiling before it begins its summer vacation.

In a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Mnuchin said that while there was “reasonable certainty” in the government’s cash flow projections, it was estimated that cash could run out in early September before Congress returned from his holiday.

“So I ask Congress to increase the debt ceiling before he leaves for the summer vacation“He said.
