Veteran actor Peter Fonda, who starred in the classic film ‘Easy Rider‘ in 1969, has died of respiratory problems caused by lung cancer, his family said. He was 79 years old.
Peter Henry Fonda was an American actor. He was the son of Henry Fonda, younger brother of Jane Fonda, and father of Bridget and Justin Fonda. He was a part of the counterculture of the 1960s., who died in her Los Angeles home.
He co-wrote the script and published ‘Easy Rider’ and collaborated with other well-known actors such as Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson.
The film was so successful that it was nominated for the Best Screenplay, Academy Award. He was also nominated for Best Actor in the Oscar Award in 1997 with the movie ‘Ulee’s Gold’ but lost to Nicholson.
Fonda began her career as a performer on Broadway in New York.
He married three times and has two children including actress Bridget Fonda.
His sister Jane Fonda made the following statement:
I am very sad. He was my sweet-hearted baby brother. The talker of the family. I have had beautiful alone time with him these last days. He went out laughing
