The United States on Wednesday announced new Iran-related sanctions against five individuals and six entities in China, including units belonging to COSCO, the US Treasury said.

The announcement posted on the site revealed Cosco

Sanctions target the COSCO Shipping Tanker, COSCO Shipping Tanker Seaman and Ship Management units but do not apply to the parent company, as well as to Kunlun Holding and Pegasus 88 Ltd.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the United States has imposed sanctions on certain Chinese entities for deliberately transporting oil from Iran. He described this as new sanctions aimed at intensifying pressure on Iran.

Pompeo said on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly that Washington would intensify efforts to inform the countries of the dangers of working with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
