US President Donald Trump comes under pressure for alleged statements in a telephone conversation with a foreign leader. Democratic chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff, accused the government of withholding information from Congress on a whistleblower testimony.

According to the Washington Post, the US President had made a promise to a foreign leader in a telephone conversation. The land to they would go, it was Ukraine, it said on Friday in another report the newspaper.

Trump called the report “Fake News”. He knew that such phone calls were intercepted by intelligence agencies. “With this knowledge, I’m not so stupid as to be inappropriate in talking to a foreign leader”, he wrote on Twitter.

Intelligence committee argues about documents

However, the Inspector General of Intelligence, Michael Atkinson, in a letter to the 9 September Committee, said the whistleblower statements were urgent and credible. In such a case, the congress must be informed, intelligence director Joseph McGuire found four days later in another letter.

After consultation with the Ministry of Justice – that the case does not meet the criteria and that Congress has no right to the material.

Committee Chairman Schiff stated that the Ministry of Justice unjustifiably rejected the documents. Mike Quigley, another Democratic committee member, accused Justice Secretary William Barr of protecting Trump.
