US President Donald Trump now threatened an impeachment after suspected CIA employee turned up a whistleblower with a complaint to the Inspector General of Intelligence: President Trump had in fact requested the Ukrainian government to help him fight for his re-election. At the center of the complaint is a phone call Trumps with President Volodymyr Zelensky from the 25th of July. The protocol of the phone call has since been released by the White House.
Why are the Democrats preparing Trump’s Impeachment, Who is the whistleblower?
The New York Times reported that it is a CIA employee. He had been working in the White House for a while, but is now back in the central office. The Inspector General of Intelligence had come to the conclusion that his statements were credible, even though the employee was apparently a political opponent of Trump and the relevant information indicates that the whistleblower has been dealing with Ukraine for a long time.
Acting National Intelligence Director Joseph McGuire told congress that the whistleblower was completely correct in his view. His lawyers have pleaded with the media not to divulge the identity of their client, otherwise threatened negative consequences. Trump has said that he almost spies people like the Whistleblower and his White House informants, he suggested approving a harsh punishment.
What did Trump and Zelensky discuss in the phone call?
The primary reason for the phone call was the success of Zelensky’s party in the parliamentary elections a few days earlier. After a prolonged exchange of friendliness and sharp criticism of Chancellor Angela Merkel, the Ukrainian President thanked the White House for American military aid and expressed the interest in buying more anti-tank guided weapons. Trump replied, “I’d like you to do us a favor, because our country has been through a lot, and Ukraine knows a lot about it”.
It was about the entirely unproven thesis that behind the cyber attacks on the Democrats in the 2016 election campaign were in fact not Ukrainian, but Ukrainian hackers. According to the Democratic Party, with the help of the cyber security firm Crowdstrike, a feint was organized, which served to attach Trump an unfair connection to the Kremlin.
