At least 13 Chinese tourists were killed, and dozens more were injured, after the bus was taken off and collapsed 30 meters into a ravine in Laos.

According to police, the bus was carrying more than 40 Chinese tourists and was traveling to the town of Luang Prabang when the incident happened Monday.

“So far, 13 bodies have been found, while two others have been lost,” police officer Xaiyaphon Chitavong told AFP.

He said the accident was believed to have been caused by the bus brake problem.

He said 31 injured passengers had received medical treatment.

Local Chinese media, which reported the incident, also posted photos of rescuers in the area following a flood in the area.

Meanwhile, road accidents often occur in Laos, Thailand, Cambodia Myanmar due to weak enforcement and safety regulations.

The monsoon season from June to October also makes most rural roads slippery due to heavy rains.
