16 Taliban militants dead or wounded including local commanders of the group, the 209th Shaheen Corps said.

According to a statement released by Shaheen Corps, the Taliban militants attacked Khel Guli Base in Dawlatabad district of Balkh at 7 pm local time on Saturday which sparked clashes that continued until 9 pm.

The statement further added that Taliban militants retreated after 4 losing of their comrades during the clashes.

Security forces killed 2 militants and wounded another insurgent during a separate clash in Joi Uzlek area of Chahar Bolak district in Balkh proivnce, the 209th Shaheen Corps added.

The 209th Shaheen Corps also added that the security forces killed local Taliban commanders Qari Toofan and Chari Pawalan during a clash in Qarqeen district of Jawzjan on Saturday.

Four other militants sustained injuries during the clash including their commander Qari Qayoum, the 209th Shaheen Corps said.
