Prison in Vakhdat, located about 17 kilometers east of the capital of Dushanbe, occupies 1,500 prisoners.

The ministry said that when a mob killed three bodyguards and five other prisoners ‘threatened’ another.

They then arrested another prisoner as a ransom before burning the prison’s medical facilities.

“Following the restoration of the situation. 24 members of the gang were killed and 35 others were arrested. The redemption was released and the situation was calm, “the statement said.
