42 Taliban killed and wounded in clashes with Afghan security forces

Atleast 42 Afghan Taliban militants killed and wounded in clashes in the northern Afghan province of Balkh on Saturday, the Afghan military said.

Security forces clashed with Taliban militants in a northern district, killed 35 gunmen and wounding seven, the statement said.

The statement added that the Afghan Air Force provided security forces with air support during their engagement with Taliban elements. The report pointed out that the huge amount of weapons and ammunition recovered during the air and ground operation.

Balkh among the provinces where the militants are active, many attacks are carried out against the security and government institutions in the country.
