A 7-magnitude earthquake hit the island of Sumatra, Indonesia on Friday, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

Indonesia’s geophysical agency issued a tsunami threat following the quake, with the USGS claiming it occurred at a depth of 59 kilometers, 227 kilometers from Bentung Bay town, North Sumatra near here.

So far no reports of fatalities or injuries have occurred.
