A US citizen is facing charges of trafficking and kidnapping in the Philippines after being arrested while trying to smuggle a baby to the United States from a major Philippine airport.

Jennifer Talbot, 43, from Ohio managed to get the six-day-old baby passed the passport control area by carrying the baby in the chest, according to the Philippine National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

A closed-circuit security camera (CCTV) captured the baby’s body as Talbot tried to unload the backpack before passing the security check, to the departure hall.

Airport authorities continued to act as Talbot failed to show the departure and identification documents of the baby before boarding the plane.

The NBI said the baby’s mother agreed to have the baby adopted and knew Talbot intended to take her to the US.

US citizen will face charges of trafficking and kidnapping for not obtaining written consent from the baby’s mother.

Jennifer Talbot identified the baby’s mother online, failed to declare it to the immigration authorities and was found guilty of up to 20 years in prison, the NBI said.
