An Afghan army official confirmed that the security and national defense forces have regained control of the provincial centre  “Khawaja Omri” of “Ghazni” in the center of the country .

The Afghan news channel  Friday quoted local officials as saying that the process of clearing the province, which fell in the hands of the Taliban for nearly a year is still ongoing, adding that the operation had begun Thursday evening.

This comes at a time when Acting Defense Minister of Afghanistan, Asadullah Khalid during a visit to the region, “Zabul” in the south of the country that the Afghan forces will regain control of the areas fell into the hands of the Taliban in the near future, noting that the Taliban did not make any achievements during spring attack.

The Afghan security forces recovered – late last month – control of the district, “DehYak” in the province of Ghazni, which was seized by the Taliban for about two years.
