The death toll from the blast at a chemical plant in Waghadi village in Shirpur taluka of Maharashtra has risen to 13 dead and 58 injured.
The injured were rushed to a hospital for treatment, police said in a statement. Local authorities pointed out that at least 100 workers were present at the factory at the time of the explosion.
For his part, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis expressed his grief over the victims of the explosion of the chemical plant. He announced financial compensation to the families of the victims estimated at 500 thousand Indian rupees.
