Pakistan is ready to hold talks with the new Indian government, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Sunday.

He said the two countries should sit down at the dialogue table to discuss the outstanding issues between the two sides, stressing that achieving peace in the region is a top priority for Pakistan and that the government is making sincere efforts in this regard.

Bharatiya Janata Party, led by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, won the last general election, winning 300 seats in the 543-member parliament, beating the results of the 2014 election.
