Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he would not breach the promise despite the many standing delegates representing his support when the delegates suggested that he should remain as the Prime Minister until the 15th General Election (GE-15).

The Chairman of the United Native Party of Malaysia (UNIT) was also seen only smiling with the reception of many delegates who agreed to keep him at least until the GE-15.

Dr Mahathir said, he would not breach the promise to hold the post for two years as previously agreed.

“After all their opinions (representatives). But to hold on to the promise, “he said after attending the second Annual General Assembly (PAT) debate session at the Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC) here today.

It is learned that the proposal was first came from delegates from Kelantan when debating the BERSATU chairman’s speech when the Bachok Head of Division Bachok, Zulkifli Zakaria suggested that Dr Mahathir remain the Prime Minister until GE 15.

The same was confirmed by another state representative, who is also Head of Selayang Division, Selangor, Zulkifli Mohamad, said at least eight state representatives wanted Dr Mahathir to remain prime minister until GE-15 during the debate session.
