India urged Pakistan on Thursday to reconsider its decision to cut diplomatic ties after New Delhi canceled a special status applicable to its part of the disputed Kashmir region, the Indian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Pakistan has made it clear that it will expel India’s ambassador, and its envoy, who was due to start his duties soon, will not move to New Delhi after the special privileges of Kashmir were abolished.
“The Government of India regrets the steps announced by Pakistan on Wednesday and urged that country to reconsider them so as to maintain the normal channels of diplomatic ties,” the Indian Foreign Ministry said.
