Earthquake magnitude 7.2 shook Bacan Halmahera Selatan, North Maluku, after the earthquake a number of residents panicked and fled to higher ground.

According to information from the local authorities that the earthquake magnitude 7.2 did not have the potential for a tsunami, residents were asked to remain calm and alert even though residents had panicked and fled to higher areas.
