Large-scale power outage cause chaos in Jakarta

Tens of millions of people on Indonesia’s overcrowded island of Java were suffered from widespread disruptions of power on Sunday after the electricity company reported sudden shutdown at several stations.

The power cut disrupted entire Jakarta, home to nearly 30 million people that went in the dark, also imposed a temporary closure of the new express rail system.

Passengers were evacuated from many trains when electricity outage, according to the operator, while railway lines in the capital’s suburbs were also affected by the power cut.


The interruptions did not include Jakarta hospitals and Sukarno-Hatta International Airport because they had their own generators, officials said.

Number of  mobile network and the traffic went into the chaos after road signals also effected with power outage.

According to the electricity company, the holidays occurred when the gas turbine stopped working at an important station, and problems at another station.
