Malaysian PM Dr Mahathir said that the western countries are often seen forcing other countries to accept what they have done, such as the ideology of communism, capitalism, socialism, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT)
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the LGBT was a change in their moral values and they wanted to force that lifestyle on other countries.
“We have our own culture and can not accept anything contrary to it, our customs and our religion.
“In addition, the West is always talking about freedom, which means we are free to reject life’s practices that are not suitable for us,” he told a press conference, before ending a three-day working visit to the United Kingdom (UK).
Dr Mahathir said this when asked whether the question of LGBT filed during a question-and-answer session after his speech at the Cambridge Union on Sunday showed that there was still pressure for the country to accept the inverse way of life.
“But so their pressure is that they affect Malaysians themselves, including some Muslims and Malays who assume one manifestation of freedom is the right to accept what is done in the West.
“There is something in the West that we need to use as an example (to be denied), for example in the Western institution of marriage is ignored, as well as family institution is not accepted. They can live together unmarried.
“That’s their way, we do not have to accept. We have the value of our lives and hold on to that value and must be proud of the value of our lives. Do not we follow the West, “he said.
During his three-day working visit to the UK, Dr Mahathir was accompanied by Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah and Youth and Sports Minister Syed Sadiq Abdul Rahman.
