North Korean official said on Monday that his country’s leader, Kim Jong-un, might change his mind about US President Donald Trump if he continues to make “inappropriate and dangerous” statements, describing Trump as an “impatient old man”.

Kim Yong Chol, the North’s senior official who was a pivotal figure in arranging a second summit between Trump and Kim that failed, said the United States was ignoring a deadline at the end of the year to show flexibility regarding stalled nuclear disarmament talks.

“We have no more to lose”, Kim Jong-un said in comments carried by the Korean Central News Agency, the official North Korean news agency.

On Sunday, Trump said the North Korean leader risked losing “everything” if he resumed hostilities and that his country should get rid of nuclear weapons after it said it had conducted “a successful test of great importance”.
