Police figures in Hong Kong have shown an increase in online shopping fraud, with six cases reported daily, up 35 percent from last year.
Fraud cases – according to the Chinese newspaper The China Morning Post – include electronics, handbags, party tickets and even cake coupons, while police attributed the increase in cases to the growing popularity of online shopping in the city.
According to the latest figures released by the police, the number of fraud reports through online purchase rose to 383 cases during the first two months of this year compared to 286 during the same period of 2018.
