China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) will remain on high alert to firmly protect national sovereignty and territorial integrity, said spokesman of the Chinese Ministry of National Defense Senior Colonel¬†Ren Guoqiang.

Commenting on the sailing of two US ships across the Taiwan Straits on Sunday,¬†Guoqiang said, “We fully deplored the passage of the two American ships across the Taiwan Strait and watched them from start to finish.” China expressed concern to the US side.

The Taiwan issue concerns China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, which is also the most important and most sensitive issue of Sino-US relations, he said, adding that the US side must firmly adhere to the “one China” principle and the three joint communiques adopted by China and the United States and deal with Taiwan affairs And avoid harming relations between the two countries and the two armies as well as peace and stability across the Strait.
