A Philippine Coast Guard official said on Sunday that 31 people had died after three ferries caps were turned over due to bad weather.
The ferries were carrying 96 people in total, both passengers and crew, when bad weather caused it to capsize off the coasts of Guimaras and Iloilo provinces on Saturday.
Armand Palillo, a spokesman for the Philippine Coast Guard, said the authorities were still searching for three missing, and the rest of the crew and passengers were rescued.
Dozens killed each year in ferry accidents in the Philippines, an archipelago of 7,100 islands with no good maritime safety records.
