At least Five people were killed on Monday after two buildings collapsed in a powerful earthquake that hit the northern Philippines.

The governor of the province Lilia Pineda, told local media that three bodies were recovered from the rubble of a building in the city of Burak, while a child died in the collapse of a building in the city of Lubao, adding that the earthquake caused power outages, rescued work carried out.

The US Geological Institute announced earlier that an earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale hit the Philippines, where buildings were shaken in Manila.

The Philippines is located on the belt in a ring of fire, which is exposed to strong seismic activities in the Pacific Ocean, extending from Japan, through Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
