Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said authorities had arrested eight people linked to a series of bombings in the country that killed hundreds of people.
“So far, the names we have are local, but the investigators are trying to find out if they have relations with the outside, without giving further details,” the prime minister was quoted as saying.
Officials in Sri Lanka have announced the deaths of 27 foreigners out of 207 dead in eight separate bombings in the country.
A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry confirmed the deaths of three British citizens, two Americans, three Indians, two Turks and a Portuguese.
