Tokyo: 35 people have been injured, including one seriously injured when a train and truck collided at a city intersection today.

“About 35 people have been injured, including one in critical condition”, said Ryo Nagakura, a crisis management agency in Yokohama City south of Tokyo.

Local media reported that the driver of the truck was seriously injured, he was trapped under the train.

Meanwhile, television footage shows the first wagon of the train slipping and reversing, causing the windshield to break, while several other parts were set on fire.

The train operator, Keikyu, also reported that several people were injured in the incident.

“We want to confirm that the train was hit by a truck”, the incident took place at a junction south of Tokyo”, Keikyu spokesman Takuro Sekine said.
