US Congress seeks to prevent production of digital currency in Iran

Assistant minister of Industry, Trade and Minerals of Iran Saeid Zandi said that the US Congress, seeks to prevent the production of digital currency “Petkwin” in Iran.

“This digital currency is a tool to avoid the financial embargo on individuals and countries, as well as the possibility of carrying out money laundering operations,” the official said, referring to its use as a double-edged sword.

He added that (Tehran) has not taken a decision so far on the production of “Petkwin”, stressing the need to expedite the resolution of this issue, so as not to turn into covert activities.

He pointed out that a number of ministries in Iran working with the Central Bank to resolve the issue of the production of “digital currency” in Iran.
