Seville this Sunday, November 3rd, is the center of attention of the music world. Spain once again hosts the award ceremony of the MTV EMA (Europe Music Awards), awards that annually reward the best in the world of music.

Considered MTV’s second most important awards, after the Video Music Awards (VMAs), EMA emerged in 1994 to celebrate the most popular artists, songs and music videos in Europe. This Sunday’s ceremony marks the 25th edition and the return to Spain for the fourth time.

The MTV EMA nominations this year sees Ariana Grande in the lead with seven nominations including “Best Artist” and “Best Video” for her viral hit “thank you, next”, and for “Best Song” with Shawn Mendes. They are followed, for the first time in nominations, by Lil Nas X and Billie Eilish with six nominations each and the Latin American star J Balvin with five nominations including “Best Artist”. Right behind, with four Lizzo and Taylor Swift nominations, they too among others for the “Best Artist” category.

The night was full of much more than just artists winning awards, though — there were also a ton of performances. Halsey, Rosalia, Becky G, Ava Max and Mabel Will all took the stage, so it was quite a star-studded affair.
