Belgian army launches campaign to recruit Muslims in its ranks

A new recruitment campaign launched by the Belgian army is trying to encourage people from diverse backgrounds to join the ranks of the army, with special emphasis on attracting Muslims.

According to Belgium 24, the campaign is entitled “Can I as a Muslim Work in the Belgian Army?” The propaganda video of the campaign shows a discussion between people seeking recruitment and an army officer, discussing the opportunities for Muslims to join the Belgian Royal Army.

The officer in the video explains that anyone with Belgian nationality or EEA can work in the Belgian army, a “neutral organization” in which everyone enjoys the same rights and duties.

The officer said that the Muslims who join the ranks will be allowed to pray as long as it can be done during the mission.

The campaign’s additional video also lists a series of benefits for military personnel, such as paying transportation fees or a special bonus for soldiers at work.
